France wins the French Tournament
France’s 3-1 victory over the Netherlands on Tuesday evening in Le Havre ended the 2022 French Tournament on a high note. They are now five months away from the Euro. Clara Matéo was in the starting line-up while Ouleymata Sarr didn’t play.
Corinne Diacre’s team won their third match in as many games against the reigning European champions and runners-up in the 2022 French tournament. It was a victory that took shape on the half-hour mark, with two goals in five minutes from Wendie Renard, from the penalty spot, and Marie-Antoinette Katoto. The striker even scored twice.
The French team, already victorious in 2020, won the second edition of the Tournoi de France. A good warm-up for the UEFA Euro 2022 tournament (6-31 July in England).
The next appointment for the French women’s team is the continuation of the 2023 Women’s World Cup qualifiers in Wales on Friday 8 April, and against Slovenia four days later.
