It’s the best news of the pre-season for our youngsters! Paris FC have won the U21 European Tournament in Brittany, beating AS Saint-Etienne on penalties in the final (1-1, penalties: 8-7). This was Paris FC’s second appearance at this prestigious tournament, and they have now added their name to the list of winners!

After a flawless qualifying phase, the young Parisians led by Flavien Binant did not disappoint! In the final of the U21 European Tournament held at the Henri Guérin Technical Centre in Brittany, Paris FC beat AS Saint-Etienne on penalties. Although trailing after just 3 minutes, Abel Bacha’s team-mates came back into the game through Zakaria Khaldi (20′). It was finally at the end of a thrilling penalty shoot-out that the Parisians were able to savour the final victory (8-7).

It was a landmark victory in a tournament whose reputation is well established.

The entire Paris FC team congratulates its youngsters on bringing the trophy back to Orly!

Mathieu Lacan, Academy Director: “Very happy! It’s incredible to win this tournament! It has a direct impact on the club. We’re giving a positive image of Paris FC and its work around training. The boys put in a very good tournament. The fans were behind us because we were the most attacking team. We scored a lot of goals. The boys gave it their all with a lot of humility. What more can you say about a penalty shoot-out victory over Saint-Etienne after a very complicated match? The penalty shoot-out was interminable… The longest in the history of the tournament (laughs)! It was a superb tournament and once again I’m very happy for the staff, the players and the club!”

Flavien BINANT, Coach: “Very satisfied with the result and the way we played in general. We put in a good performance. We came out of the group stage with the best attack and the best defence. In the final, we got off to a poor start and quickly conceded a goal. We drew level after some good teamwork. The penalty shoot-out was interminable, but our keeper made the right save from the 8th shooter. It’s important for the club to have our name on the trophy cabinet. Mentally, it’s good and it’s very positive as we prepare for this season, which won’t be easy.
