Official press release
Paris FC and its Chairman Pierre Ferracci announce the departure of Thierry Laurey. The 59-year-old will be replaced this summer by Stéphane Gilli, the new coach of the Paris FC men’s first team.
Thierry Laurey leaves Paris FC
hierry Laurey is leaving Paris FC after two seasons in charge of the first team.
Thierry Laurey, who arrived in the summer of 2021, had a remarkable first season in charge of Paris FC, guiding the capital club to the play-offs for promotion to the top flight with a fine 4th place finish. The unfortunate loss to Sochaux in the play-offs will live long in the memory.
Even though the 2022-2023 season was a disappointment, given the club’s initial ambitions, it ended with a very respectable 7th place, level on points with the 6th-placed team.
Paris FC and its Chairman Pierre Ferracci would like to extend their warmest thanks to Thierry Laurey for all his hard work over the last two seasons, and wish him every success in the future.
Stéphane Gilli, new coach of Paris FC
Paris FC are delighted to announce the return of Stéphane Gilli, this time as head coach of their first team.
Born on 30 April 1974, Stéphane began his coaching career on the bench of Grenoble Foot 38 in 2007 alongside Mecha Bazdarevic. The duo helped Grenoble Foot 38 reach Ligue 1 in 2008. After the Alps, Stéphane Gilli moved on to FC Sochaux-Montbéliard and then the Bosnian national team. In 2018, he moved to Paris FC, still in the role of assistant coach. Appreciated by players, staff and management alike, Stéphane Gilli enjoyed an exceptional season with Paris FC, culminating in a Ligue 1 play-off defeat to RC Lens on penalties.
Following the departure of Mecha Bazdarevic in winter 2019, Stéphane Gilli will remain at Paris FC alongside the new staff. A gesture appreciated by Paris FC, who salute his loyalty.
In August 2020, the native of Ganges in the Hérault region of France signed up with the Moroccan national team and became assistant to Vahid Halilodzic.
After stepping down as Morocco’s assistant coach, Stéphane Gilli concentrated on his coaching qualifications. A few weeks ago, the Hérault native obtained his BEPF, the Brevet d’Entraîneur Professionnel de Football, enabling him to manage a first team at a professional football club.
